A common excuse is ,”I’m still with you but I just don’t want the whole world knowing my business.”. Be very cautious if your lover has changed their relationship status on FaceBook. This is a passive way of letting people know that they are still on the market.

Does your lover have a FaceBook account but has refused to add you to it? They may not want you to get status updates on their FaceBook page. It’s easy to block a person from their FaceBook account. Once you’ve been blocked you can’t even find that person in the search. If this is happening to you – it’s very likely that you are the person in the affair. They may want to prevent you from finding their friends, seeing their relationship status, or knowing their whereabouts.

Is your lover a big FaceBook user? Are you on their FaceBook account? Have you noticed lots of people from the opposite sex appearing on their FaceBook account? Just like online chatting, FaceBook flirting has been a huge phenomenon.  It’s easy for people to communicate with one another on FaceBook without arousing suspicion. FaceBook is meant for people who actually know one another, so if your lover suddenly has tons of friends from the opposite sex… they may be fishing for an affair.

For those who don’t play online games like MMORPGs (Massively multiplayer online role-playing games), you probably don’t know that people actually date quite frequently in these games. Many people play the games for entertainment but also use it as a platform to find a potential partner.  Such relationships can be dangerous because they start in a safe environment. You start playing these games just to have fun. They often require you to spend hours upon hours working with other people online to achieve goals. Some people use Team Speak – a server to let you talk in real time while you are playing a game. Combine that with extended hours of online conversation, it’s very easy for your lover to suddenly be spending more time with an elf in a game than with you. If they start hiding their game playing from you, they may be hiding more than that. Look out for signs like smiles and giggles as they are playing. If their life starts revolving around their game, they may be doing more than just having fun in a fantasy world.

Was your significant other previously against online gaming. Have they developed a new passion for it? Are they suddenly driven to play online games for all hours of the night? Do they prefer to play their online game outside of your presence? If this is the case, they might just be cheating either in the game or perhaps they are only claiming to be playing an online game.

Have you ever walked up to your lover’s computer to show them something and then notice their instant messenger blinking? Do they always ignore the instant messenger? If this happens over and over, they are probably avoiding having to open the chat window displaying a provocative chat. If this is a regular occurrence, it’s a sign that there’s something going on.

If your significant other is cheating online, they won’t want you around when they are chatting. They may decide to move their desktop or laptop to another part of your home so that they can have more privacy. If someone is not doing anything suspicious, they should be more than comfortable with surfing the internet in your presence. If your lover suddenly wants to surf the net behind closed doors, there’s probably something fishy going on.

Internet chatting / internet dating by text became popular when the internet was relatively young. Now people have the option of chatting with web cams. This led to a wave of people whipping out web cams on their laptops and showing the people they are chatting with what they look like. It’s common for people to send provocative web cam videos of one another as a way to entice each other. Has your lover’s online chatting progressed to video chatting? If your lover is always on web cams, they may be doing something fishy.

Has your lover started watching porn online? Perhaps they have always watched porn but now they are watching it for hours at a time. Do they let you know they are watching porn or are they sneaking around watching it when you aren’t around? Cheating creates a measure of sexual excitement. Your lover may be looking for ways to carry on this excitement when they aren’t in the presence of the person they are having an affair with. Be cautious if you notice this.

If your significant other has nothing to hide, then they shouldn’t be too worried about letting you see their instant messenger accounts. Most people use a set of generic passwords that they use for non-sensitive accounts. For example – instant messengers, registrations on websites etc. Does your lover let you know what these passwords are. Are they defensive about ever letting you log in for them? If they are vehemently against you accessing their instant messengers, then there may be something suspicious going on.
